Smart Growth Ambassadors
We are excited to be hosting our second Smart Growth Ambassadors of 2023. 🍁

Smart Growth Ambassadors: Policy & Pints will be held in partnership with West Sixth Brewing on Tuesday, October 10 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Are you interested in learning about smart, sustainable growth? Do you have input on how our city uses our natural resources? Do you want Lexington to build more affordable homes in walkable neighborhoods with increased access to transportation options?
If so, we hope you consider joining our Smart Growth Ambassadors program to learn how to be an advocate for smart, sustainable, and equitable growth in Lexington. We will discuss the many ways you can be an ambassador at City Hall, in your neighborhood, and beyond.
Duration: 2 hours
Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Location: West Sixth Brewing, 501 W. Sixth Street, STE. 100, Lexington, KY 40508
Details: Join us in sipping on locally brewed craft beer while discussing how zoning policies can promote and encourage a smarter, more sustainable, and more equitable city. We’ll be discussing:
-
- The basics of city planning for sustainable and equitable growth
- How local government decisions impact our daily lives
- Fayette Alliance advocacy efforts
- How to promote smart growth in your community
- And, of course, the mandated expansion of our historic urban Services Boundary
SGA Program Overview:
We will review the basics of city planning for sustainable and equitable growth and how local government decisions impact our daily lives. Next, we will map out all the ways that you can be a Smart Growth Ambassador in our community from neighborhood association meetings to City Hall, and even with your friends and family through storytelling.
After Orientation
Once the orientation is complete, we will help you create an ambassador action plan that works best for you and your capacity. There are many ways to be an ambassador and they start with as little as 30 minutes a month. As long as you’re interested in learning how to talk about smart growth, we can work with you to figure out what the best next steps are for your role as an Ambassador!
Ambassadors will have optional educational and volunteer outings throughout the year with our community partner organizations from working in the Seedleaf urban farms to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and learning about the Lexington Community Land Trust. Additionally, we will have optional social events!
