Tree Week 2021: Trees, Horses, and Our Extraordinary Landscape

Date: Tuesday, October 12, 1-2:30 pm

Location: Mill Ridge Farm – 2800 Bowman Mill Rd, Lexington, KY 40513

Join Fayette Alliance for a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience a historic tree tour at Mill Ridge Farm in Fayette County! The tour will be led by arborist Horst Schach, a professor in Landscape Architecture at the University of Kentucky. Mill Ridge Farm was started by Alice Chandler in 1962 and has been raising and selling racehorses in Lexington, Kentucky ever since. In 1968, Alice became the first American woman to breed an Epsom Derby winner, just five years after founding Mill Ridge Farm. This established the farm as an international source of top-class performers when Sir Ivor became the first American-bred sold at public auction to win the Epsom Derby. Join us for a tour to learn more about the farm’s historically significant trees while taking in the breathtaking beauty of the landscape and horses at Mill Ridge. Register today, spots are limited!
