Lexington, Ky. – The sustainable growth, land use advocacy group Fayette Alliance announced today the hiring of Susan B. Speckert as the organization’s next Executive Director starting on May 23rd. Most recently serving as General Counsel of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, Speckert’s diverse background led to her selection after a thorough search of potential leaders for the organization.

“We are delighted that Susan has chosen to continue her stellar career with us,” said Fayette Alliance Chairman Don Robinson. “She brings a unique combination of skills, primarily her experience in planning, zoning and real estate issues. Her passion for smart growth will serve us and the community as a whole very well.”

Speckert has lived and worked in the legal profession in Lexington since 2005 with both Stoll Keenon Ogden and with the Fayette Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. Prior to Lexington, she worked in United States District Court as well as serving as Executive Director of the Women’s Center at the University of New Orleans.

“On behalf of our board, we are excited about only our second Executive Director in our history and feel Susan will be an excellent match for our organization’s current and future goals” continued Robinson. “The residents of Fayette County will have a strong advocate for their future as it relates to intelligent and innovative use of land here.”

A graduate of LSU and the Loyola School of Law, Susan resides in Fayette County with her husband Chris.
