Participants will have the chance to construct their own gingerbread “missing middle” housing models, like duplexes, fourplexes, or townhomes.

What is Missing Middle Housing?
Missing Middle Housing includes housing types like duplexes, triplexes, townhomes, and courtyard apartments that bridge the gap between single-family homes and larger apartment buildings. Will Hanrahan
Will Hanrahan founded 1000 Delaware LLC, a one-acre adaptive reuse infill development in Lexington, Kentucky, dedicated to creating workforce housing. With over 10 years of real estate investing experience in Lexington and a strong foundation in marketing, Will combines innovative housing solutions with impactful community and stakeholder engagement.
An accomplished digital marketing leader, Will’s expertise spans web, social media, customer relationship management, and digital advertising. He has successfully implemented strategies for various Lexington-based organizations to enhance brand visibility and customer loyalty.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Will has lived in Lexington for the past 12 years. He holds a Master of Science in Marketing and Strategy from Warwick Business School, which equips him with the strategic and analytical skills driving his approach to marketing and real estate development.
Passionate about revitalizing underserved areas, Will is committed to creating sustainable, inclusive housing that honors Lexington’s heritage.
Laura Slaughter
Laura Slaughter is executive director of Gleanings Housing INC, a non-profit affordable
housing development organization. Laura, having moved here with her family from New
York as a child, is a long-time resident of Lexington. She began her career in social
services working with the Cabinet for Human Resources in Child and Adult Protective
Services. After earning her MSW degree from University of Kentucky, Laura shifted her
focus for several decades to more individual treatment focused work. As an LCSW and
LCADC, Laura has been providing group and individual therapy for substance
use/addictions, trauma and other mental health issues in both institutional and private
practice settings.
In 2020, her awareness coming from her social work experience of both individual and
systemic factors intersecting to create a growing housing affordability crisis, lead to the
formation of Gleanings Housing INC.
