FRANKFORT — The state Senate gave final approval Tuesday to a bill fulfilling the University of Kentucky’s request for $132.5 million in state bonds for a six-story medical research center.
On a vote of 36-1, the Senate sent House Bill 298 to Gov. Steve Beshear, who said he will sign it into law. It was the second bill that lawmakers have sent to the governor this legislative session.
“Kentuckians have suffered from poor health and early deaths for decades, and sadly, many of these diseases are preventable or manageable with proper health care,” Beshear said in a statement. “Combating these entrenched health problems requires big changes and big investments.”…Read more at Kentucky.com
