Bike for the Bluegrass 2009

Bike for the Bluegrass 2009

“Bike for the Bluegrass 2009” was a very successful event! It was held on Saturday, October 24th—and despite the rainy, cold weather over 100 cyclists came out and got an inside look at the unparalleled natural beauty, history, and “nuts and bolts” of our signature equine industry here in Fayette County.

As a gesture of support for The Fayette Alliance, Gainesway, Mt. Brilliant, Castleton Lyons, and Cobra farms opened their gates exclusively for this event—and participants were able to choose a 10-mile family friendly ride, or a 30-mile and 45-mile ride which explored the inroads of these renowned equine operations.

The Fayette Alliance would like to thank those who made this event possible including the participating farms: Mt. Brilliant, Gainesway, Cobra, and Castleton Lyons; event sponsors the Bluegrass Cycling Club, Wallace Station, and Good Foods Market and Café; our volunteers; and all of the cyclists who participated in the ride.

We look forward to hosting the 2nd Annual Bike for the Bluegrass on Saturday, October 30th.  Click here for more information.

Team U.S.A. scored the winning goal in the last minute of the match, prevailing over South Africa 10-9.

Party goers also enjoyed dinner, live music by popular 80’s cover band “The Spazmatics”, and a silent and live auction featuring an exclusive painting by acclaimed local artist Andre Pater, along with other unique field-sport experiences.

The Bluegrass International Cup had unprecedented success this year, by doubling corporate sponsorship and raising substantial funds for Bluegrass Conservancy and The Fayette Alliance.
