Brown and White Appaloosa by Marc Logsdon | Horse Mania 2010

Brown and White Appaloosa by Marc Logsdon | Horse Mania 2010

Join us December 3rd at Keeneland for the auction of the Horse Mania 2010 horses and the opportunity to bid on these unique and beautiful public art sculptures that celebrate Lexington’s signature equine industry.

The Fayette Alliance has been named the recipient of the auction proceeds of Brown and White Appaloosa by artist Marco Logsdon and sponsored by Churchill McGee LLC, Mann Sutton & McGee Insurance, and The Motorist Insurance Group.  Additional information can be found at HorseMania2010.com.

Place your bid to support The Fayette Alliance!

To create the design of Brown and White Appaloosa, Marco Logsdon has used a layering process involving tar and paint. Once the tar wash is removed, the chemical processes that have occurred underneath are revealed. The last step is to seal each piece with beeswax and a coat of high grade acrylic polyurethane. Logsdon has had numerous one-person and group shows, and has received two Al Smith Fellowships.

For more information and artwork by Marco Logsdon, please visit his website at www.marcologsdon.com.

2nd Annual Bike for the Bluegrass

By Knox van Nagell | October 24th, 2010 | See all in Events, Fayette Alliance Blog, Past Events

The Fayette Alliance and The Bluegrass Cycling Club and sponsors Wallace Station, Windy Corner Market, Good Foods Market & Cafe, and Fitness Plus present the 2nd Annual Bike for the Bluegrass.

On Saturday, October 30th 200 cyclists gathered at Fasig Tipton for the exclusive opportunity to ride through some of the most beautiful farms in the Bluegrass and to raise money to support The Fayette Alliance.  In its second year, Bike for the Bluegrass was an incredible success.  The Annual Bike for the Bluegrass is a remarkable opportunity for you to experience some of the most renowned thoroughbred farms in the Bluegrass from the back of your bike.  Riders have an inside look at the unparalleled natural beauty, history, and “nuts and bolts” of our signature equine industry, while helping fund the mission of The Fayette Alliance. As a gesture of support for The Fayette Alliance, Fasig Tipton, Gainesway, Mt. Brilliant, Castleton Lyons, UK Equine Campus of Maine Chance Farm, and Cobra opened their gates exclusively for this event.

If you attended Bike for the Bluegrass and have any pictures you would like to share or event suggestions, please email us.

A special thank you to all who contributed to the 2nd Annual Bike for the Bluegrass, especially our sponsors, the Bluegrass Cycling Club, Wallace Station, Windy Corner Market, Fitness Plus, and Good Foods Market and Cafe!

Who We Are

The Fayette Alliance is your voice at city-hall advocating for sustainable growth in Lexington…to achieve a world-class city in our world-class Bluegrass landscape.

Since 2006, the Alliance has worked with local government to usher over 50 major land-use policies into law that promote farmland preservation and our signature agricultural industries, responsible development, and improved water quality and infrastructure in Fayette County.

We are charting Lexington's future by positively impacting local zoning and policy decisions—the very building blocks of our community. Although many challenges still remain, we are accomplishing sustainable growth in Fayette County for a better quality of life, economy, and environment for all of us.
