1:00pm to dusk – all along the Trail

Bring your friends out for an 8 mile party along the best Trail in Kentucky!

Second Sunday will also be hosting a ride from downtown and the Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden out to the Northside YMCA.

The main event is the “shoestring” cutting that will take place at 3:00pm at the Coldstream Trailhead. Governor Beshear, Congressman Chandler, and Mayor Newberry among other dignitaries will be on hand to officially open the Trail. This will also be a venue for part of WRFL’s Boomslang Festival.

The Northside YMCA on Loudon Ave is hosting a family fun day. Park there, have some fun, then hit the Trail.

Parking and trail access is also available at the Iron Works Trailhead across from the Campground entrance of the Kentucky Horse Park.

Contact saustin@bgcf.org for more information.

Interesting facts and details:The trail includes over 5,000 feet of permeable concrete.
The first phase the project includes planting 211 native trees and 260 native shrubs. More will be planted in subsequent phases.
The Trail will also have over 2.8 acres of native grasses and 2 rain gardens.
It is supposed to serve as a path for those commuting from the country to the city to use bicycles if they choose.
