We would like to thank Mayor Gray, Vice Mayor Gorton, and the Urban County Council for their support of the Purchase of Development Rights Program ($1 million); the Rupp Arena Arts and Entertainment District study ($1.25 million); and the ongoing Downtown Design Excellence Initiative ($50,000) in the FY 2013 LFUCG Budget.

These efforts are important, as Lexington becomes a model for innovative and sustainable growth, by connecting and balancing its vibrant city with its productive and unique Bluegrass landscape.

Farmland preservation, a vibrant urban core, and sound development incentives and design standards are critical components to this strategy—and the FY 2013 budget responsibly addresses this opportunity even in today’s trying economic climate.

We very much appreciate their leadership during the budget process, and also service and commitment to Lexington-Fayette County. To read the Alliance’s official position statement on the FY 2013 budget, please click here.
